Mammoth Jalapeño is a jalapeño variety grown for its long, thick-walled peppers.

Growing Advice

Grow your Mammoth Jalapeño in fertile, well-draining compost in a warm and sunny position. Move the plant into a larger and stable container to support its mature growth.

Keep the compost evenly moist during active growth, flowering and fruit development. Avoid repeated periods of severe dryness or waterlogging.

Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser during early growth. Change to a high-potassium tomato feed once flowers or young peppers appear.

The branches may require support as the large and relatively heavy fruit develops.

Plants grown outside should only be placed outdoors after the risk of frost has passed. Choose a warm position sheltered from strong winds.

Mammoth Jalapeño is normally grown as an annual but may sometimes be overwintered in a bright, frost-free position.

Fruiting in the UK

Mammoth Jalapeños can produce fruit successfully in the UK when provided with warmth and strong light.

Fruit may be harvested while green or left to ripen to red. Greenhouse and polytunnel cultivation will usually produce the largest and most reliable crop.
