Brugmansia arborea is a tender flowering shrub grown for its hanging white trumpet-shaped flowers.

Growing Advice

Grow your White Angel’s Trumpet in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-draining compost. Move the plant into a large and stable container as it develops.

Keep the compost consistently moist during active growth. Brugmansia plants use considerable amounts of water during warm weather but should not remain waterlogged.

Feed regularly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Change to a high-potassium feed once flower buds begin to develop.

Place the plant in a warm, bright and sheltered position. Protect the large leaves and branches from strong winds.

Overwinter in a bright, frost-free greenhouse or conservatory, ideally above approximately 7–10°C. Reduce watering during winter but do not allow the root ball to dry completely.

Plants can be pruned before winter if required to reduce their size.
