Brugmansia vulcanicola ‘Orange’ is a high-altitude Andean flowering shrub grown for its hanging orange trumpet-shaped flowers.

The plant develops oval green leaves on branching stems. Its flowers are generally narrower and more compact than those produced by many warm-growing Brugmansia species.

Mature plants are expected to produce tubular flowers in orange, salmon or orange-red shades, sometimes with yellow or green colouring towards the centre.

Brugmansia vulcanicola originates from montane areas of Colombia and Ecuador and generally grows best with moderate temperatures and cool nights.

In the UK, Orange Angel’s Trumpet should be grown in a container so it can be moved into a frost-free greenhouse or conservatory during winter.

Growing Advice

Grow your Orange Angel’s Trumpet in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-draining compost. Transfer the plant into larger, stable containers as it grows.
