Brugmansia sanguinea ‘Vermilion’ is an Andean flowering shrub grown for its hanging red-orange trumpet-shaped flowers.

The plant develops broad green leaves on upright, branching stems. Mature plants are expected to produce long tubular flowers in vermilion, red-orange or related shades, often with paler colouring towards the base or centre.

The flowers are generally unscented, unlike the strongly fragrant flowers produced by many warm-growing Brugmansia species.

In the UK, ‘Vermilion’ is best grown as a container plant outdoors during summer before being moved into a frost-free greenhouse or conservatory for winter.

Growing Advice
