Farmers Jalapeno (Capsicum annuum) 2L Pot
Farmers Jalapeño is a jalapeño variety known for the heavy corking that develops across the surface of its fruit.
Corking appears as pale, dry lines and cracks as the pepper expands. It is a natural characteristic of the variety and does not indicate disease or damage.
The thick peppers begin green before ripening to red. They have medium jalapeño heat with a slightly sweet flavour and are suitable for grilling, stuffing, pickling, sauces and salsas.
In the UK, Farmers Jalapeño grows best in a greenhouse, polytunnel or warm and sheltered patio position.

Growing Advice
Grow your Farmers Jalapeño in fertile, well-draining compost in a warm and sunny position. Move the plant into a larger container if required for continued growth and fruit production.
Keep the compost evenly moist, particularly during flowering and fruit development. Avoid repeated wilting and prolonged waterlogging.
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser during early growth. Change to a high-potassium tomato feed once flowers or young fruit appear.
The distinctive corking should become more visible as the peppers expand and mature. The amount of corking may vary between individual fruit.
Plants grown outdoors should only be placed outside once the risk of frost has passed.
The plant is normally grown as an annual but may sometimes be overwintered in a bright, frost-free position.
Fruiting in the UK
Farmers Jalapeño can fruit successfully in the UK when provided with warmth and strong light.
Peppers can be harvested green or left to ripen to red. The corked surface is edible and does not need to be removed before cooking.
