Golden Cayenne (Capsicum annuum) 2L Pot
Golden Cayenne is a cayenne-type chilli variety grown for its slender fruit, which ripens to golden yellow rather than red.
The plant develops a compact, branching habit with green foliage and small white flowers. The narrow peppers begin green before turning yellow as they mature.
Golden Cayenne peppers have a medium-hot to hot flavour. They can be used fresh in sauces, salsas and cooked dishes or dried and ground to produce a yellow chilli powder.
In the UK, Golden Cayenne grows best in a greenhouse, polytunnel or warm and sheltered patio position.

Growing Advice
Grow your Golden Cayenne in fertile, well-draining compost in a warm and sunny position. Move the plant into a larger container if required to support continued growth and fruit production.
Keep the compost evenly moist during active growth, particularly while the plant is flowering and developing fruit. Avoid prolonged waterlogging and repeated wilting.
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser during early growth. Change to a high-potassium tomato feed once flowers or young peppers appear.
Plants grown outside should only be placed outdoors once the risk of frost has passed. Choose a warm position sheltered from strong winds.
Golden Cayenne is normally grown as an annual in the UK but may sometimes be overwintered in a bright, frost-free position.
Fruiting in the UK
Golden Cayenne can produce fruit successfully in the UK when provided with sufficient warmth and light. Greenhouse or polytunnel cultivation usually gives the most reliable harvest.
The peppers may be harvested while green or left to develop their mature golden-yellow colour. Fruit intended for drying should be allowed to ripen fully where possible.
