Annona muricata is a tropical fruit tree grown for its glossy foliage and large green fruit.
Soursop develops an upright, branching habit with smooth, dark green leaves. Mature plants produce yellow-green flowers followed by irregularly shaped fruit covered with soft, curved projections.
The ripe white pulp has a soft texture and a sweet-sharp flavour. It is traditionally used for juices, smoothies, desserts and frozen drinks throughout tropical regions.
In the UK, Soursop must be grown as a heated greenhouse, conservatory or indoor container plant. It is more sensitive to cold than Cherimoya or Atemoya.

Growing Advice
Grow your Soursop in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-draining compost. Move the plant into progressively larger containers as it develops.
Keep the compost evenly moist while the plant is actively growing, but never leave the roots standing in water. Soursop is sensitive to both prolonged drought and waterlogged compost.
Place the plant in a warm, humid and sheltered position with good light. Protect it from cold draughts and sudden temperature changes.
Feed regularly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Reduce feeding and watering during periods of slow winter growth.
Overwinter in a heated greenhouse, conservatory or bright indoor growing space. Keeping the plant above approximately 12–15°C is recommended, with warmer conditions preferred.
Fruiting in the UK
Soursop requires tropical warmth, strong light, maturity and successful pollination to produce fruit.
Flowering and fruiting in the UK are unlikely without a large, consistently heated greenhouse. Hand pollination may be required if flowers are produced.
Fruit production cannot be guaranteed, and many plants will primarily be grown for their foliage and botanical interest.
