Yellow Maracuya is a vigorous form of Passiflora edulis grown for its ornamental flowers and yellow passionfruit.
The plant develops climbing stems with glossy green leaves and tendrils that attach to nearby supports. Mature plants produce white and purple flowers followed by rounded fruit that changes from green to yellow as it ripens.
The fruit contains aromatic orange pulp surrounding numerous edible seeds. Yellow Maracuya generally has a sharp, strongly flavoured pulp suited to juices, desserts, sauces, drinks and cooking.
In the UK, Yellow Maracuya requires a greenhouse, conservatory or heated indoor growing space. It generally requires warmer conditions than the purple-fruited form.

Growing Advice
Grow your Yellow Maracuya in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-draining compost. Provide a strong trellis, wires or another climbing structure.
Keep the compost consistently moist during active growth, but avoid waterlogging. Water requirements will increase considerably during warm weather and as the vine becomes larger.
Feed regularly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Change to a high-potassium feed when flower buds begin to appear.
Place the plant in the warmest and brightest suitable position available. Provide good ventilation and light shading during periods of intense greenhouse heat to prevent leaf scorching.
Yellow Maracuya can be placed outdoors during warm summer weather but should be returned under cover before nights become cool.
Overwinter in a bright, heated greenhouse or conservatory. Keeping the plant above approximately 15°C is recommended, as prolonged cool conditions can cause leaf loss and root problems.
Reduce watering during periods of slower winter growth.
Fruiting in the UK
Yellow Maracuya requires sustained warmth, strong light, plant maturity and successful pollination before fruit will develop.
Some yellow-fruited seed lines may require pollen from a genetically different plant for reliable fruit set. Hand pollination may also improve results under glass.
Fruit production is possible in a heated greenhouse or conservatory but cannot be guaranteed in the UK.

Young plants may not yet display mature divided foliage, flowers or climbing growth.
